Dark Girl, written by Kofi Genfi, is a story narrated by a boy who deeply admires dark skinned women. The boy transcribes the dark girl’s journey in three phases: her adolescent years as The Dark Girl when she realizes she is treated differently because of how she looks, her matured years as The Dark Woman when she is forced to confront how the world views her and how she views herself, and lastly, her coronated years as The Dark Queen when she reaches self-actualization through discovering the beauty in her hue and history.
